Welch Healthcare's Alzheimer's Disease & Memory Care Units
Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group provides care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders in two ways. Every Welch Healthcare rehabilitation and nursing center has a specialized Alzheimer’s Program. Additionally, Welch Healthcare has a specialized 23-bed center in Duxbury for individuals with mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Program at Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group is designed to promote independence within a comfortable and safe environment. The goal of the program is to help individuals maintain the optimum level of functioning and to maintain the highest quality of life possible.
More than 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. A host of cognitive and physical losses accompany the disease. Welch's specialized Alzheimer's Program has been designed to address and compensate for these losses to the greatest extent possible. This is done in the least restrictive environment possible to permit the greatest degree of personal freedom. The Program is designed to decrease inappropriate stimulation, enhancing each resident's ability to effectively interact with and perceive what is going on around them.
The Alzheimer's Program staff receive special training and seek to adapt to each resident's individual patterns of behavior. In this way we provide the best possible environment for every resident so that he/she can be successful in the tasks of day to day living. Our compassionate and caring staff provide a warm, homelike environment that enriches quality of life for older adults living with Alzheimer's and memory disorders.
