Child Day Care Program

PHILOSOPHY
Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group Child Day Care Centers are an environment where children from the age of 1 month to under nine years are cared for in a loving, responsible way. Caretakers aim to provide a safe and secure environment for children who are in a key period of growth and development. Areas where children can learn to express themselves in are the areas of art, music, and physical activities. Also, children learn the importance of sharing and getting along with others in the nursing center. Staff and residents alike help create an extended family-type atmosphere.

PROGRAMS LICENSED BY OFFICE OF CHILDREN
Infants - caretakers aim to provide a secure environment, insuring that each infant is clean, has a dry diaper, is fed on a regular schedule, and has adequate rest time. He/she will also provide stimulation for the baby through cuddling and playing as well as supplying developmentally appropriate toys.

Toddlers - teachers and aides allow the toddlers to explore surroundings in a safe and stimulating manner. Language skills are encouraged and small and large motor activities are introduced. Toilet training is part of the daily activities (when the parent requests it).

Preschoolers - teachers and aides provide many opportunities to hold a crayon or pencil, cut with scissors, make different shapes, and put pieces together in a puzzle. These activities will prepare the children to write. The children will be introduced to counting, identifying colors, sizes and shapes, and learn about measurement and balance. They will learn to solve simple problems. Also, activities to improve language and social development, self awareness, self-help skills, and intellectual growth will be introduced.

STAFF
All staff members are certified through the Office of Children and meet continued education requirements.

INTERGENERATIONAL PROGRAM
Regular scheduled activities with residents. Birthdays and holidays are shared events.
 

HOURS OF OPERATION
Welch Child Care Centers are open Monday through Friday between the hours of
6:30 A.M. and 5:00 P.M
