What does the Allerton House at The Village at Duxbury lifestyle consist of?

Allerton House residents enjoy living in beautiful, thoughtfully designed private rental apartments surrounded by their treasured belongings. A combination of individualized personal care and assistance with daily routines help to support an independent lifestyle. An inclusive monthly fee provides for most services, plus three meals served daily in our attractive, private dining room.

How large are the apartments, and may residents bring their own furniture?

Allerton House Assisted Living at The Village at Duxbury offers spacious one-bedroom apartments with a living room, lovely kitchenette, which includes either a microwave or stove and a mini-refrigerator. Residents bring their own furniture so they will feel right at home when they move in.

Will my parent be given an orientation after they move in?

Absolutely. We take great pride in ensuring that every new resident feels comfortable in and confident about their new surroundings. Staff members provide an initial and ongoing orientation to the dining schedule, roster of activities and weekly scheduled bus trips and social outings.

How can I get my family member to a medical appointment if I am not able to accompany him or her?

Allerton House at The Village at Duxbury provides free transportation to appointments within a 10-mile radius of the community. If necessary, Care Management can arrange for escorted transportation to medical appointments for a modest fee. The trained escort will pick up residents, take them to their physicians’ office, sit in on appointments if requested, take notes, pick up prescriptions and ensure that all residents have a safe and comfortable return to the community.

What activities are planned for residents?

Our Activity Department's mission is to make sure that all residents can participate in activities which interest and suit their personal needs and tastes. Residents enjoy a wide range of entertainment, lectures, music, word games, art and memoir-writing classes.

What’s the difference between Allerton House Assisted Living and The Village at Duxbury Independent Living?

Allerton House is a rental community for people ages 62 or better, with a 30 day notice of termination. Allerton House is designed for individuals and couples who are independent but wish to enjoy the benefits of three nutritious meals prepare daily, weekly housekeeping and laundry services and a wide variety of social and recreational activities, as well as convenient access to personal care and medication management if needed. These amenities in a beautiful, spacious apartment come without the long term commitments of ownership. The Village at Duxbury’s Independent Living Community offers larger residences but requires the purchase of a share in the Cooperative Corporation.
